3D Secure is a collective term for the security standards implemented by the various card brands, such as Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode. 3D Secure has become a global industry standard for online card processing as it provides an added level of security, and has been integrated accordingly with Peach Payments.

The purpose of 3D Secure is to protect cardholders during online purchases by requiring the cardholder to complete an additional verification step during their online payment, prior to a transaction being processed.

Online shopping is already very secure with high levels of security and encryption whenever you pay by card. 3D Secure provides an added layer of security by prompting you for a One-time PIN (OTP) when you make an online purchase. This helps to protect against online fraud by verifying that the customer making the online purchase is the rightful owner of the card.

Advantages of 3D Secure include:

  • Additional verification for greater peace of mind.
  • Enhances online security without additional software required.
  • Accepted around the world.
  • Fast, simple and convenient.
  • 1. When you make an online purchase using your card, you will be prompted to key in your card number, expiration date and CVV/CVC.
  • 2. You will be redirected to a URL hosted by your issuing bank, where you can securely complete 3D Secure authentication.
  • 3. A One-time PIN (OTP) will be sent to your mobile phone number. Enter the OTP when the pop-up screen appears.
  • 4. After successful cardholder authentication on the issuing bank’s website, you will be returned to the merchant’s website where the transaction result will be displayed.
